NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers.

The NDIS will provide about 460,000 Australians under the age of 65 with a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life. The NDIS supports people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment.

Wheelability is a Registered NDIS Provider

Receive reasonable and necessary funded supports

The NDIS can pay for supports that are reasonable and necessary. This means they are related to a person’s disability and are required for them to live an ordinary life and achieve their goals.

When going through your planning process make sure you allow for all your equipment needs including spare parts like tyres, tubes, wheels, castors, cushions, brakes, ramps etc.

Wheelability can supply brand new Wheelchairs and Scooters and daily living aids online at affordable prices to stretch your NDIS funding as far as possible.

Where and when is the NDIS available?

From 1 July 2016, the NDIS will be introduced in stages around Australia over three years to ensure it is successful and sustainable.

People will enter the NDIS differently. In some states and territories, the NDIS will be rolled out by area while in others people will enter by age groups.

Visit your state and territory page to find out when the NDIS is coming to your area.

You will need to meet certain requirements to access the NDIS. To find out more go to Accessing the NDIS section of the NDIS website.
